Sky One, the flagship entertainment channel of the UK's BSkyB, has acquired exclusive free/basic pay UK rights to Vancouver-lensed "SGU: Stargate Universe", starring Brit actor Robert "Trainspotting" Carlyle as 'Dr. Nicholas Rush'.
The agreement also gives Sky One non-exclusive VOD/download-to-own rights for the entire "Stargate" catalog from MGM Worldwide Television Distribution.
The series, executive produced/written by Brad Wright and Robert Cooper will debut October 2009 as a 2-hour movie on Sci Fi, directed by Andy Mikita.
"...SGU follows a band of soldiers, scientists and civilians, who must fend for themselves as they are forced through a Stargate when their hidden base comes under attack. The desperate survivors emerge aboard an ancient ship, which is locked on an unknown course and unable to return to Earth.
