Director Roland "2012" Emmerich continues to develop a film adaptation of author Issac Asimov's "Foundation" for Columbia Pictures, with Emmerich and his Centropolis partner Michael Wimer producing.

Originally published as a series of eight short stories in "Astounding Magazine" debuting in 1942, "Foundation" is about humans scattered on planets throughout the galaxy, living under the rule of the 'Galactic Empire', while a 'psycho-historian' envisions the empire's collapse and prepares to save the knowledge of mankind.

Emmerich and Wimer are in post-production on the Vancouver-lensed "2012", aka "Farewell Atlantis" at Sony...
