"Arrow" Shafts 'Deathstroke The Terminator'

Sneak Peek an extended trailer and new international poster supporting the CW's Vancouver-lensed DC Comics adaptation "Arrow', recently picked up for broadcast by Canada's CTV Network.

The trailer shows flashbacks referencing the DC Comics' super-villain character 'Slade Wilson', aka "Deathstroke The Terminator".

"...after a violent shipwreck, billionaire playboy 'Oliver Queen' was missing and presumed dead for five years before being discovered alive on a remote island in the Pacific. When he returns home to ''Starling City, his devoted mother 'Moira', much-beloved sister 'Thea' and best friend 'Tommy' welcome him, but they sense Oliver has been changed by his ordeal on the island.

"While Oliver hides the truth about the man he’s become, he desperately wants to make amends for the actions he took as the boy he was. Most particularly, he seeks reconciliation with his former girlfriend, 'Laurel Lance'.

"Oliver reconnects with those closest to him and secretly creates the persona of 'Arrow' – a vigilante – to right the wrongs of his family, fight the ills of society, and restore Starling City to its former glory.

"By day, Oliver plays the role of a wealthy, carefree and careless philanderer he used to be – flanked by his devoted chauffeur/bodyguard, 'John Diggle' – while carefully concealing the secret identity he turns to under cover of darkness.

"While Laurel’s father, 'Detective Quentin Lance', is determined to arrest the vigilante operating in his city, Oliver’s own mother, Moira, knows much more about the deadly shipwreck than she has let on – and is more ruthless than he could ever imagine..."

"Arrow" stars Stephen Amell, Colin Donnell, Katie Cassidy, David Ramsey, Willa Holland, Susanna Thompson and Paul Blackthorne, with the pilot directed by David Nutter ("Band Of Brothers") from a story by Greg Berlanti and teleplay by Andrew Kreisberg and Marc Guggenheim.
"Arrow" joins other TV pilots based on DC Comics superheroes "Booster Gold", "Deadman" and "Spectre".

Created by Mort Weisinger and George Papp, "Green Arrow' first appeared in "More Fun Comics" #73 (November 1941), as 'Oliver Queen', a billionaire and former mayor of 'Star City'.

Dressed like 'Robin Hood', Green Arrow is an archer who invents trick arrows with various special functions, including glue, net, explosive, time bomb, grappling, fire extinguishing, flash and tear gas arrows.

Originally developed as an archery-themed 'Batman' vigilante, the character developed over the years into a voice of 'left-wing' and 'progressive' politics.

The 'Green Arrow' character also appeared in the live-action, Vancouver-lensed "Smallville" TV series.
