Slated to start production this April in Vancouver, the mini will premiere on Sci Fi in December.
Dreyfuss will take on the role of 'Mystic Man', a wizard who holds the key to revealing the destiny of one woman who can save The Outer Zone (aka the 'O.Z.') from dark magic.
Described by Sci Fi as a 'psychedelic, often twisted' take on the original book, "Tin Man" follows Dorothy Gale (aka 'DG'), plunging into another world to discover her true identity while battling winged-monkey-bats. She is joined by 'Glitch' (Cumming), an odd man missing half his brain, 'Raw', a quietly powerful wolf-like creature longing for inner courage and 'Cain' a former policeman (known in the O.Z. as a 'Tin Man', with a tin badge) seeking vengeance for his 'scarred heart'.
Ultimately DG's destiny leads her to an emotional and terrifying showdown with wicked witch 'Azkadellia', with the fate of the O.Z. hanging in the balance.
"Tin Man" is executive produced by Robert Halmi, Sr., Robert Halmi, Jr., with co-writers Steven Long Mitchell and Craig Van Sickle. Director is Nick Willing.
Dreyfuss won an Oscar for Best Actor in "The Goodbye Girl".
