Paramount Pictures and executive producer Joe "Hellboy" Roth have acquired Mattel's "Max Steel" for another action figure movie adaptation, similar to the studio's "Transformers" and "G.I. Joe" features, based on Hasbro toys.

Premise of the toy property revolves around a 19-year-old extreme sports athlete, recruited by a secret agency after an accident makes him superhuman.

The character was introduced as an action figure in 1999, and spun-off as an animated TV series 2000-2002.

Mattel continues to release "Max Steel" animated direct-to-DVD features for Latin American markets, produced by Vancouver's Rainmaker Entertainment.
