The "Arrow" TV pilot, is from writers Greg Berlanti, Marc Guggenheim and Andrew Kreisberg ("Green Lantern").
"Arrow" joins other new TV pilots in development, based on DC Comics superheroes, including "Booster Gold", "Deadman" and "Spectre".
Created by Mort Weisinger and George Papp, "Green Arrow' first appeared in "More Fun Comics" #73 (November 1941), as 'Oliver Queen', a billionaire and former mayor of 'Star City'.
Dressed like 'Robin Hood', Green Arrow is an archer who invents trick arrows with various special functions, including glue, net, explosive, time bomb, grappling, fire extinguishing, flash and tear gas arrows.
Originally developed as an archery-themed 'Batman' vigilante, the character has developed over the years into a voice of 'left-wing' and 'progressive' politics.
The 'Green Arrow' character also appeared in the live-action, Vancouver-lensed "Smallville" TV series.
