The live-action science fiction TV series "Altered Carbon", based on the 2002 'cyberpunk' novel by Brit writer Richard K. Morgana, set in a future where interstellar travel is facilitated by transferring consciousnesses between bodies, has been canceled after two seasons on Netflix:
"...In the future, humans have achieved virtual immortality. Most people have 'cortical stacks' in their spinal columns that store their consciousness. If their body dies, their stack can be stored indefinitely. Their stacks can be downloaded into new bodies, or 'sleeves', after death..."
"Altered Carbon: Resleeved", is the Japanese 'anime' feature, directed by Jō Nakajima, spinning-off from the Netflix live-action series.
