The September 2009, British Columbia provincial budget has no new tax relief for the local film/TV sector, looking to increase BC's 35% labour-based tax credit.

British Columbia is currently facing the biggest provincial deficit in its history.

In recent weeks, the BC film/TV sector became increasingly concerned as the province began losing US projects to Ontario, including the recent move to Toronto of Vancouver-based Brightlight Pictures, noted for a string of Uwe Boll-directed features, now looking to set-up shop in Ontario to lense a US service production remake of the 1962- UK TV series "The Saint" TV series, based on the works of author Leslie Charteris.
