CBC Unveils New Vancouver Wing - December 4...

$65 million worth of renovations are now complete on a new wing of the CBC Building at 700 Hamilton Street in downtown Vancouver.

An open house December 4, collected money for the Vancouver Food Bank, allowing the public to see the 25,000-square-foot space, designed by architects Hotson, Bakker, Boniface, Haden, housing the CBC local news gathering operations for TV, radio and the Internet.

"Our business is about transparency," said CBC Vancouver's managing director Johnny Michel, about the wing's glass facade.

"It’s about being open to the public and engaging the public....as you drive by you can see the lights, you can see the TVs, you can see the studio cameras and know that this is a broadcast centre."
