Disney-owned Pixar Animation hasa reported the launch of a new studio facility in Vancouver, BC.
Pixar Canada will produce 20 to 25 minutes of short films annually to be distributed worldwide on the Disney Channel, on the web and in theme parks.
Amir Nasrabadi, Pixar Canada general manager said the company's goal was to employ 75 people by 2012, moving up to a 20,000 to 25,000 square foot space.
Pixar was purchased in 2006 by the Walt Disney Company for 7.4 billion dollars (US), noted for winning 24 Academy Awards for animated features including "Toy Story". "Toy Story 3" in 3D opens June 18.
The Vancouver production facility will deliver their first projects in August....
